The Hot Potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling you to create interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. For more information please see the Hot Potatoes website.

Languages Online at the Victorian Government Education site offers free downloadable programmes to create you own multimedia language games and activities. Use your own text, pictures or voice recordings. Suitable for all languages.

The Royalty-Free Clip Art Collection for Foreign/Second Language Instruction archive held at Purdue University is an excellent source of pictures for flashcards and the like. The clip art is classified according to its type and hence is useful for topic based used.

The site Media Converter allows you to download and convert videos found at online repositories like You Tube. You can convert up to 10 videos a day for free. Sites with similar functionality are KeepVid and Video Downloader 2.0. There are also free utilities to do the same thing.

The Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR) at Michigan State University provides some excellent free tools for language teachers to use  including quizzes and tasks which can incorporate multmedia. You only need to set up a free account.
